About Me and My Books

unnamed
My Books, Currently overflowing the limits of the bookshelf.

Hey, I’m Josh. If you’re here reading this you probably, whether you realize it or not, believe that there is more to life than what you are currently getting out of it. If this sounds like you, we’re in the same boat, and welcome!

I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ask me “Red or Green?” and I would say green. I’m currently pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of New Mexico and I love to learn. I’ve been reading for a long time now, as a kid in elementary school I loved to read and was curious about the world. I may have read The Hobbit upwards of 6 times before I moved on to the next phase in life. I’ve really been reading for knowledge since January of this year. It started off as a New Years resolution but quickly turned into a passion. I’ve learned so much in the last few months that my mindset has dramatically changed from a scarcity position to a highly optimistic but realistic viewpoint. A few key things you should know about me, I’m hungry, Ambitious and ready to work to create a life of significance.

So, why write about books you may ask? I’ve been posting my reading on Instagram for about 8 months now and a post on Social Media can get pretty dense pretty fast. It can easily get over looked (especially when you’re scrolling to find the next greatest meme).

So, I’ve decided to take it to a new platform where I believe I can make a greater impact, with more in depth reviews and a space dedicated to books and life lessons we can learn from every day experiences.

Many of us don’t have time for reading every day. Among the hustle and bustle of out high paced technology filled lives sometimes the simpler things in life lose their way, like sitting down and reading a good book. While I highly encourage you all to read, read, read and read, I hope to provide you value by taking the guess work and the noise out of the jungle of books out there. In the digital age of information it can be an overwhelming task to sift through every bit of information out there. Out of millions of websites, I am so grateful that you have found mine. According to Google there are 129,864,880 books out there that have been published. That is an overwhelmingly impossible amount of books to read in a single lifetime. Just to give you an idea, if you read every single one of these 130 million books at an average reading pace (about a page per minute) and the average book were 250 pages long it would take you 3.7 million years to read all the books in the world. And I can guarantee you that not all of them are worth reading.

My job is to take the guess work out of the next book you choose to buy and read, to give you the golden nuggets I found and then inspire you to take action and go digging for the gold in these books yourself. Why? Because I’m just one perspective, things that appeal to me wont necessarily appeal to you. Just to give you an example of how much perspective plays a role in life can be summed up in this quote.

“Two men looked out from prison bars,       Gardens: stars

One saw mud,

The other saw stars”

~Dale Carnegie

Not to say that one perspective will be positive and the other negative. but we each find what we need most when we go searching.

Happy Reading!
