Tony Robbins: Unlimited Power – Part 1
To start off, this book has so much value that I had to split it into 2 parts. Part 2 will arrive later this week.
This is actually Tony Robbins first book which he wrote when he was just 25. By that age he had already created astounding success and was already well into creating the life of his dreams. How was he able to create astounding success at such a young age?
The answer comes from modeling. This is what Tony and many other magnates use to create their success.
They are able to compress decades into days.
One of the great things about reading books, Is that you can learn the highlights of someone’s life in just a few quick hours. This is an incredible tool in the way that you can take the life lessons that a successful person has learned and apply them to your own life. This becomes even more effective with a mentor. In this situation a mentor can personally coach you on exactly what you need from their experience.
Success leaves clues.
In essence, instead of beating up stream and against the wind for years and years, making slow but steady progress, you can learn from masters and save energy and time. Not to say that modeling is an easy feat, it still takes belief, commitment and a huge amount of trust. Masters can show you where the current is subdued and where you are sheltered from the wind. Masters know the path ahead.
This is the exact reason why master musicians have understudies. Masters teach the understudies all they know and even correct the course when needed. Otherwise it would take years of frustration for that same understudy to make the progress he would have working with a master. This is the case across all of the performing arts. Masters of ballet have understudies, masters of opera have understudies, and masters of painting have understudies.
So what is the big take away here?
We don’t have to make it all on our own! In fact, asking for help is the best thing we can do for achieving our dreams aside from taking 10X massive action and pursuing those dreams.
So what do we need to have to prepare ourselves for the masters to teach us?
- Passion! – Without passion for your dream, what are we really after?
- Belief – A fervent faith that we can achieve our dreams.
- Strategy – Without any kind of game plan for our dreams, we will be grasping at air.
- Clarity of Values – We must be precisely clear on what we are willing to do to make our dream happen. What limits are we willing to go to to achieve the greatest? With clear values we can be sure to never violate our conscious and keep the ability to stay on track
- Energy! – This stems from our passion. Reaching our dreams takes a huge amount of energy. It is nearly impossible to sleepily become great.
- Bonding power – Our network is incredibly important, our networks can lead us to connect to the masters of our dreams. It is said that we become the average of our 5 closest influencers.
- Mastery of communication – Without this 7th trait our dreams could be dust in the wind. What If Martin Luther King Jr. had not been able to effectively communicate his dream? What if John F. Kennedy had not been a great communicator to the former Soviet Union? Where would we be?
With these 7 traits we can best prepare ourselves to have the chance to model masters of an art. Of course, none of this means anything if we don’t take action. What is your dream? And what action will you take right now to find a master to model to reach this dream?
